Community Navigator

CCofCA is hiring a Community Navigator for the Summer 2024 launch of our employment training program, Bicycle Mechanics and Retail Training (BMRT). This is a new position in the organization, and you will have the opportunity to work with CCofCA leadership to develop best practices.

Your primary responsibility will be to assess participant needs and guide them to resources they require to overcome their specific barriers. You will learn about and meet with community service providers who can assist with participant needs and help establish connections to them. Longer term, there is an opportunity to more directly support participants’ mental, physical and behavioral health as the program grows.

Responsibilities: Participants     

  • Help with completing interviews and gather information on participants from application through graduation and job placement

  • Lead informational sessions, participate in orientation, and generally welcome new participants, helping them understand how the program works and what supports are available to them. 

  • Complete ongoing needs assessments to understand participants’ access to current resources and to connect them to services that may be needed

  • Promote participant involvement and responsibility for their overall personal and economic advancement

  • Facilitate the collection and input of critical program and participant data to enhance program evaluation and learning efforts

  • Analyze information to provide reports monthly and work with development team to provide information related to funding proposals and reports

  • Work with CCofCA leadership to develop and facilitate programs, educational materials and services beneficial to participants

  • Work with leadership to shape the program to address identified or changing needs\

Responsibilities: Partnerships

  • Develop and strengthen relationships with community service providers, building a strong working knowledge of the services and supports they offer.D

  • Identify and recruit additional community-based organizations to join the support network where needed

  • Regularly monitor program, participants, and relationships with partner organizations to ensure all parties have up-to-date and accurate information

 

Responsibilities: General

  • Represent CCofCA as a leader in the community, be a positive ambassador when talking to partners, donors and volunteers, and be the best representation of our mission 

  • Learn, understand, teach and adhere to all organizational policies, standards and programs 

  • Participate in inter-departmental training and cooperation, including support of other departments when needed, and offer input and feedback in meetings

  • Maintain a clean work area and work with colleagues in maintaining clean shop in general 

  • Perform other related duties, responsibilities and special projects as assigned

 

Skills and Attributes

  • Bachelor’s degree in social work, human service or related field desired or equivalent lived/professional experience. Minimum of three years’ experience in assisting people in need. Bi-lingual, English/Spanish skills strongly preferred.

  • Familiarity with services available to disadvantaged communities. Work experience in Santa Clara County strongly preferred.

  • Ability to maintain professional/appropriate boundaries with program participants

  • Excellent interpersonal, listening, and negotiating skills, the ability to build and maintain positive relationships internally and externally with a diverse range of people, and the ability to respond appropriately to sensitive and/or confidential information and requests.

  • Ability to handle multiple projects, meet deadlines, manage priorities and workflows, while maintaining attention to detail with a positive, patient and calm demeanor, and establishing a positive team spirit with colleagues.

  • Computer literate with proficiency in Google Workspace, Microsoft, and ability to learn and adapt to new software to meet program needs 

  • Must be able to pass a criminal record background investigation (Child Abuse Central Index Check / California Sex and Arson Registry)

Compensation and Benefits

  • Salary Range $50,000 - $60,000

Hours: This is a full-time, 40-hour weekly position. Working hours may include early evenings and weekends. 

​

Facility: Office and classroom are located inside a bicycle workshop and warehouse. Some travel to alternative store locations and service provider partners is required.
